TT9: Using Online Video in the Classroom
One video I have used in the past is an ab workout routine. I found that when I led the warm up the students would do it, but they slacked off, and they didn't really enjoy it. So I found this video which is just a basic ab workout. It was amazing how much more the students enjoyed it, just because they got to follow a YouTube video. Now I wouldn't use this every day, because I think if you did that the novelty would wear off, and it would end up being no different than me leading warm ups again. So I used it once a week, and I used a variety of videos, this YouTube channel fitness blender, has a ton of great workout videos. One way you could use this for an assignment is, you could have students create and record workout routines. Then they could post them on YouTube, and have them lead the class through their workout routine. I think it would be a fun assignment and it would be a good way to get students using social media in the classroom, or in this case in the gym.
